Each Pillar has a number of short, medium & long term projects under their remit.
The following are just a sample of some of these projects.
Community: ( Pillar 7 )

Community has recently been given its own pillar demonstrating the important role it plays in Mallow. A committee is currently being formed consisting of interested and passionate individuals who work or volunteer in this area. If you are interested in getting involved please contact us
Infrastructure ( Pillar 1 )

N72 Bypass - ensuring that the bypass is kept to the top of the agenda with the Minister, feasibility study currently being compiled by Cork County Council.

Town Hall Refurbishment - working with Cork County Council to ensure that the plans for the town hall meets the needs of the town and community.
Retail, Health and Professional Services: ( Pillar 2 )

Beacon Initiative - 15 local retailers commenced the initative in mid March. It provides the necessary supports to grow the business and improve the economic viability of the business. The initiative is financed and run by Cork County Council.

Parking - Working in partnership with Mallow Chamber and Cork County Council to progress issues in relation to parking and traffic congestion and finding best possible solutions to alleviating the problems within the town.
Arts/Culture, Heritage and Tourism: ( Pillar 3 )

1916 Commemorations: Two major events took place in April to commemorate our history, one at Cork Racecourse and the other at Bweeng. Plans are in the process of being drawn up for a Garden of Remembrance which shall be located in one of the public areas near the town

Town Hall Development- representations have been made to Cork County Council to request an exhibition room in town hall for exhibits which would include Heritage, Field Club etc. A working group has been formed to submit proposals from the community as to the development of the town hall as an arts/ cultural centre.
Industry and Large Employers: ( Pillar 4 )

North Cork Engineering Cluster - was recently launched to address issues such as the skills shortage and developing appropriate courses in North Cork. Consultations are taking place to join forces with Charleville / Kilmallock engineering cluster.

Welcoming Forum - has been established to introduce and showcase Mallow to individuals and companies indicating an interest in locating in the area.

Inventory of Retail, Commercial and Development - Land has been compiled for those interested in considering Mallow as a location to set up business.
Sustainable Development: ( Pillar 5 )

NeighbourWood Scheme:- development of the woodland and parkland areas below Castle Park and Mallow Castle.

Smarter Travel - working on a the community aspect of a proposal with Cork County Council to include Mallow in the new round of funding which will become available in 2016.

Urban Public Realm Design Plan - consultations are underway to draw up a plan which will enhance the public spaces in Mallow and address issues such as signage, visual enhancement and use of public spaces. Cork County Council are funding the design plan.
Innovation, Education and New Technologies: ( Pillar 6 )

Wifi - public broadband is now available in between Market Sq, Town Hall and down to Davis Plaza. It is intended to extend this facility to the full Main Street which will be extremely beneficial to tourists to Mallow. The project is funded by Cork County Council and supported by Cork Institute of Technology.

STEM Schools Project - an extension to the programme has funding by the Economic Development Fund of Cork County Council. The programme commenced after Easter and has been rolled out to 16 primary schools in Mallow area in conjunction with Mary I College, Limerick.

Maths and Science Fair - plans are being progressed for the sixth fair which will take place on16th October in Carrigoon GAA Complex. The event is organised in conjunction with CIT and it is estimated that over 5,000 people will attend.
